No Taste for Food Waste
Grades: Middle & High School
Subject Area: Family & Consumer Sciences, Environmental Science
Made Possible By: National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association
Food waste is a serious problem. Each year, the average American family throws away as much as $2,200 worth of uneaten food, and 40% of all food in the U.S. ends up in landfills. Now’s the time to show your students how they can help reduce the economic and environmental impact of food waste, and how frozen and refrigerated foods can be part of the solution. Students also learn the rules for the safe handling, preparation, and storage of frozen and refrigerated foods, and create a public awareness campaign to combat food waste in their community.
