The Nutrition Facts Label

Grades: 6-8 and 9-12

Subject Area: Health

Made Possible By: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

With the school year underway, many young people are taking increased care of themselves and making many of their own food choices. Helping them to establish good habits as they are learning to make these decisions on their own can have tremendous long-term impact. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revised its nutrition education resources on the updated Nutrition Facts label. These free resources available in English and Spanish include hands-on, minds-on student activities, fact sheets, community and family outreach manuals, videos, and exciting games that make it easier for students to understand and use the new Nutrition Facts label in their daily dietary decisions. Encourage your students to make informed food choices that will contribute to lifelong healthy eating habits.
