Take Part in the Smokey Patrol

Grades: Elementary (4-6)

Subject Area: Science, Ecology, Music

Made Possible By: U.S. Forest Service, National Association of State Foresters, and The Ad Council

Help Smokey Bear teach a new generation how to prevent wildfires with these lessons in forest science and resource conservation. Students learn that, while fire plays a natural part in the forest ecosystem, wildfires are destructive. As members of the Smokey Patrol, they research the resources and benefits of forests, learn how to prevent wildfires, and then create their own updated versions of Smokey’s famous song.
