Popcorn is a centuries-old grain that remains one of the most popular snacks in America today, making it a great teaching tool. Introduce your students to the history of popcorn, how it’s grown, and its nutritional value with the programs below. Then get poppin’ on a Popcorn Pep Club Contest project for the chance to win a cash prize for your school. The Contest runs from October 1 through December 31.
Let’s Get Popping! – engage students in activities that feature fun facts about popcorn, an online popcorn scavenger hunt, and the popcorn growing process.
A Poppin’ Popcorn Festival – students explore the history, science, and nutrition of popcorn by making it the star of a fictional festival event.
