Grades 5-8 Lessons for Responsible Medicine Use
Research shows that children begin to self-medicate at around age 11 — in fifth and sixth grades. This free multimedia educational program is designed to build children’s knowledge about OTC medicine safety and encourage responsible behavior. The program features resources for teachers, school nurses, and families, as well as a variety of games, a Bonus Trivia Quiz, and videos in English and Spanish.
Lessons for Grades 7-8
All over-the-counter medicines carry a Drug Facts label. These lessons teach students how to use the Drug Facts label as a guide to safe medicine use, as well as how to store and dispose of medicine safely. Six units with activities that support health, STEM, and language arts (informational text) standards.
